My Story

About Wil McBride- Certified Rolfer™ and Evolved Movement Coach in Boulder, Colorado

 A Journey That Changed Everything

My path didn't start in a classroom—it started watching my dad suffer.

After a workplace injury left him with a partially torn bicep tendon, a pinched radial nerve, and carpal tunnel syndrome, he underwent surgery and spent a full year in rehabilitation. Despite doing everything right, following all the protocols, and working with skilled physical therapists, he came out of that year only being able to straighten and extend his arm, but barely able to do anything else.

He was still in pain.

Still limited.

Still searching for answers.

At the same time, I was also searching for my own answers. I was dealing with some persistent shoulder issues and an ankle problem from athletic injuries in my younger years, and like my dad, I was frustrated by treatments that weren't really working. It seemed odd to be dealing with such issues at such an early age.

Miraculously, someone I followed on social media had shared an experience of having a debilitating back injury that was only resolved by seeing this bodyworker in Toronto. I had never heard of anything like this, so it eventually led me to have a crazy idea: Take my dad to Toronto to get help.

After just one week of daily sessions, something remarkable happened: my dad's arm was pain-free, and he had regained full range of motion. When, after a year of conventional treatment barely moved the needle, one week changed everything.

I remember the question that burned in my mind: What did this person know that the physical therapists didn't?

One of the practitioners told us to find a Rolfer back home.

As soon as I returned, I found someone and decided to go through the ten series myself. What I discovered in those sessions wasn't just physical change. It was a completely different way of understanding the body, movement, and healing.

That question wouldn't let me go, and my experience was so profound that I made a decision to abandon my plans for PT school and enroll at the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado.

What Makes This Work Different

What drives me every single day isn't just the knowledge; it's remembering what it felt like to be stuck in that cycle.

To try everything and still hurt. To follow all the rules and still not get better. I've lived it, not just as a practitioner, but as someone who's been on the other side.

For the past decade, I've dedicated my life to learning from some of the world's best teachers and thinkers within the realm of health and human movement.

Here's what I learned: most traditional treatment methods place people in a particular box and then give everyone the same cookie-cutter approach.

But even when two people suffer the same exact injury, it's still not the same. We all have different body structures, different habits, jobs, and life events that have literally shaped who we are. That means the solution for each person must vary to match their unique circumstances.

Rather than forcing an imposed ideal on someone, My approach looks to be adaptable and fit the unique person you are. It isn't about a fancy technique; it's about operating from principles that are fundamental to the human body and the healing process. Working from this place allows us to work with your body and support it, rather than fighting it to change.

My Training & Approach

I graduated in 2017 from the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado, and hold certifications in the Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) and Functional Range Release (FR) systems.

I’m also an Evolved Movement Coach, which allows me to blend hands-on bodywork with a deeper focus on focus on improving how the body organizes, adapts, and expresses movement.

My work is informed by both clinical training and lived experience. I understand what it’s like to feel stuck in patterns of pain, limitation, or stagnation when lasting change feels out of reach. My approach is grounded in patience, precision, and sustainable change.

If you’re here, you’re likely looking for a different way forward, reach out and we can take the next step together.

I look forward to working with you.

Wil

I believe in the body’s innate ability to heal, adapt, and change. My work supports the body in ways that create real, lasting shifts in posture, movement, and pain, so people can feel more comfortable and capable in their everyday lives.
